How Often Should You Visit the Dentist?

A practical guide to planning dental visits for adults, children, and patients with gum concerns.

The six-month rhythm

For many patients, two dental visits each year provide enough time for an exam, cleaning, and early detection of cavities or gum changes. This rhythm is easy to remember and works well for many healthy mouths.

When visits may be closer together

Patients with active gum disease, frequent cavities, diabetes, orthodontic appliances, or complex restorations may need visits every three or four months. More frequent care helps keep inflammation and plaque under control.

Listen to symptoms

Pain, swelling, bleeding gums, a broken tooth, or sensitivity that lingers should not wait for a routine appointment. Call the clinic so the team can help you decide the right next step.
