How Diet Affects Your Teeth and Gums
Food choices influence cavities, gum health, enamel wear, and breath.
Frequency matters
Sipping sugary drinks or snacking often gives mouth bacteria repeated fuel to produce acid. Keeping sweet foods to mealtimes can reduce the number of acid attacks.
Choose tooth-friendly drinks
Water helps rinse the mouth and does not feed cavity-causing bacteria. Sugary drinks, acidic drinks, and frequent fruit juice can increase enamel risk.
Support the whole mouth
Protein, vegetables, whole grains, and calcium-rich foods support overall health, including the tissues that hold teeth in place.
