Choosing the Right Toothbrush and Toothpaste
The best dental products are the ones that clean well without injuring your gums.
Soft bristles are usually best
Hard brushing can wear tooth edges and irritate gums. A soft-bristled brush with a head that reaches the back teeth is a safer everyday choice for most patients.
Replace worn brushes
Bent, frayed bristles do not clean effectively. Replace your toothbrush or electric brush head every three to four months, or sooner after illness or visible wear.
Use toothpaste that fits your needs
Fluoride toothpaste helps protect against cavities. Patients with sensitivity, gum concerns, or heavy staining should ask the dentist which product is most suitable.
